Makes sense but unlike with driving, you can literally shutdown controlled airspace. So imagine if cars all had identifiers that could be tracked remotely (like ADS-B) and you could shutdown all driving in a given city - including busses. That would drop the accidents down to 0.

The solution is easy. Before the recent crash and all the Boeing stuff, what was the last major civilian aviation mishap? Simply crack the fuck down on manufacturers (Boeing mainly), and set minimum separation requirements in stone. The DC crash was a direct result of lawmakers increasing DC traffic because they were upset they had to wait to fly. Aircraft should never be within 500 feet of each other in any dimension, 1k if you can afford it.
Funny enough, you know what the most urgent state code is in the aviation manufacturing? AOC it stands for Aircraft On Ground. Meaning that it’s not making money, and that gets a faster turn around than even Service Difficulty Reports when a potential flaw is discovered.
That’s not true. I can think of a quick change that will greatly improve air safety: ground every single plane, effective immediately.
