Don’t Think, Just Jam
I started a screenshot album for my virtual adventures. Check it out if you’d like.
Man, I pretty much lost any hope of this getting picked up again. It’s good to be back.
I’m still a bit too busy to do much reading at the moment but I can happily report that The Saga of Tanya the Evil is finally being updated again. I just hope these updates are going to stick around for a while this time rather than disappear into the ether for another few months…
It really does feel livelier, doesn’t it? It’s nice to see the community growing like this. Congrats!
I just found MD has a status page - might be useful in the future.
I’ve been focused on gaming since most of the series I read are slow to release at the moment. That said, I have reread one older title over the weekend.
Today, Curry! is a short, cute and fun story about father, daughter and two local girls running a curry food truck on a small magical island. If you’re in need of warm feelings and no high stake action it’s a great read to fill your time with.
That seems to be the general consensus among the comments I’ve seen about this chapter. Even if not intentional, this is the canon now.
Yeah, that’s kind of what I’m worried about. I’ll wait and see if there are any other suggestions but it seems like I might have to stop posting some of the titles in the future.
Thanks for the links, I’ll check them out!
I come here today seeking help. Give me $50 and I’ll pay you back double in a week, no joke.
Does anyone know some trustworthy alternatives to Mangadex? It’s my main source for the stuff I read but some of the series I follow and post here aren’t updated there anymore. I’ve been using Chapmanganato but it looks like the site died and now I’m in a bind.
I’m looking for an alternative that will be safe to post here as I don’t want to unknowingly risk anyone’s devices (not everyone uses ad block plugins or hardened browsers after all).
I’m not sure whether it’s a difference in scan quality or a change of technique by the author but the image looks a lot softer than in previous chapters. Not in a bad way mind you, it’s just something that immediately stuck out for me (even though the last chapter was… 7 months ago?!).
Great chapter as usual, I love me some Yotsuba shenanigans.
I actually don’t mind this arc as much as I thought I would. Is it great? Not really, but it’s better than if there was a serious love triangle introduced out of nowhere. Here neither of the protagonists is interested in anyone else, whether it’s as a tease, out of confusion or a misunderstanding. It’s just a delaying tactic before the plot moves as everyone expects it to.
I can forgive it for giving us so many precious face panels at the very least.
Not all of them, just Berserk and some of the Vinland Saga. I thought about checking out either Vagabond or Kingdom (don’t remember which honestly) but I found it was not only long but also with a high chance of never getting finished so I gave up and chose other titles instead. I think that’s what happened anyway - it’s been a good few years since then so I might be wrong about this.
Why these four if you don’t mind me asking? Is it the themes, similar aesthetic or something else entirely?
I’m on a bit of a break from manga outside some of the usual series (I’m still reading, just jumped on some books right now) but I’d like to say I’m really happy how the last few chapters of The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All went. It’s just a bunch of wins for everyone, including the audience.
Honestly, most of the series I follow at the moment seem to be doing pretty well lately (at least the one that release regularly anyway) so that’s nice. Now if only the rest of them had more reasonable schedules I’d be even happier (not that I don’t appreciate people scanlating for free as it is, I just can’t help with my cravings once I get hooked on a story).
A’ight, back to black hole I go.
I wouldn’t mind if the change was more reasonable/gradual but her going from the initial design to a completely new person in what, 2-3 weeks? It just felt like a cop-out. Plus the fact that she only got her kiss after becoming a generic manga girl… Still, these aren’t major issues in the grand scheme of things.
I agree about the teacher though.
Lets see… Asura’s Dish of the Day finished yesterday. I mentioned before I’m a bit disappointed with the time skip and that didn’t change, but the final chapter was decent enough. Too bad it had to go this way.
Second series I’d like to mention is Crimson Grimoire. It’s an edgy magical girl with servants series that was abandoned by its translators years ago and came back recently. I don’t even remember why I started reading it back in the day - it’s not particularly unique nor impressively written. I just needed something to fill my time with, I guess.
I’m still going back and forth whether I care enough to continue reading at this point as I don’t expect much but hey, it is something I read in the last few days so it deserves a mention.
I don’t really have the time or energy to read anything new at the moment so other than that I’m sticking with the usual stuff: Mary-san, 12cm Promise, green rock yuri etc. I’ll just sustain myself reading through comments posted by all of you each week.
I think at this point it’s just another staple of Japanese media, like pervy old man, manzai (straight man, funny man) comedy or clueless main character. Besides, is it really that different from love at first sight that’s so popular in western stories?
Got it, I wasn’t completely sure hence my question.
The current arc is all about the broader, political “behind the scenes” aspects of the world. There’s some thriller vibes with a mostly unknown political group working from the shadows, some brutal action and a lot of investigating into who, how and why. There’s also more world building (including dive into more religious aspects) in the recent chapters.
I’m not sure I’m ready to make judgement about this part of the story just yet - there are some things I like, some I’m not too hot about and a lot of my thoughts will depend on whether author can stick the landing with all of this.
All I’m willing to say for now is: it’s interesting enough I’m still reading and want to know where it goes. I’ll definitely post more if something cool or egregious happens in the future.
That’s my mom pretty much. She treats cooking like baking so whenever she does it a recipe is an absolute must. Well, that and using whoever is available as a taste tester for some reason (she has no problems with taste nor any skill issues in regards to cooking).
(╯°□°)╯︵ 🏀
Why is THIS always the direction these stories go in? I just hope it’ll be a short arc at this point.
I didn’t have “read a sports manga” in my bingo card for the year but since Captain Tsubasa is currently free on MANGA Plus I’ve decided to check it out. It’s fun change of pace, though I don’t think I’ll be sticking with it long term (it’s just not my type of story).
Secondly, Maid to Skate is back baby! I’ve been a fan of Suzushiro (the author) long before the series so the initial announcement had me unreasonably hyped. Seeing such long breaks between chapters afterwards was really depressing. I’m glad it was picked up again and hope this means change to the “one chapter a year” pattern we’ve had until now.
