Not yet, but I’m happy govt workers who sat around and got paid good money to nothing are getting what they deserve. Biden wasn’t making cheaper groceries.

Maybe you all should have talked about that instead of just making fun of republicans all day.

Seems you still haven’t learned your lesson either. Good luck on the next election unless you wise up.

How do you know they weren’t doing anything?

I’m all for cuts in the government, but I have zero evidence that the cuts Trump is making are beneficial to the country. If he wants to balance the budget, cutting a few hundred here and there won’t cut it, we need to either raise taxes or cut entitlements, probably both.

Trump, here’s a plan that should work:

        1. Eliminate cap on SS
        2. Eliminate SS benefits for people making >400% FPL
        3. Cut military spending by 10%, and allow every agency to stockpile up to 50% of unused yearly budget
        4. With excesses from 1&2, create a negative tax bracket for poor people, and start replacing federal welfare programs with equivalent cash
        5. Repeat 4 until we have an actual safety net where people can quit terrible jobs and start businesses without worrying how to make rent

1&2 fixes SS shortfalls, 3 cuts much of the rest of the deficit, 4 cuts unnecessary programs (and jobs), and 5 creates real wealth by creating a path out of wage slavery. We’ll end up with something like UBI, less federal programs, etc.

But the cuts I’ve seen look like loyalty purges. I think we should make a lot of cuts, but I don’t really trust Trump or Musk to make them.

Biden had 4 years to make changes like that. But he didn’t. I didn’t vote for Trump, but it’s hilarious watching the chaos he is creating. The chaos is well-deserved after years of people sitting around, collecting big paychecks, and doing nothing.

Since i didn’t vote for him, none of it is my fault. But it’s fun watching.

collecting big paychecks, and doing nothing

Citation needed. My understanding is that Trump cut air traffic control just before a high profile crash that was likely due to fatigue by air traffic control. I’m not sure if it’s causitive, I’m just worried that some of those cuts we won’t know the impact of for months or even years, but the impacts could be big.

These cuts seem to be largely for show instead of actually solving scope creep, which would require an act of Congress. I highly doubt those cuts were people sitting on their hands, they were likely people who disagreed ideologically with him. Ideology doesn’t have a place in the executive branch, which is supposed to merely enforce and follow the law.

            Biden

And Trump didn’t either during his first term, nor did Obama or Bush during their terms. Each successive president made the problem worse, and Trump could very well make it worse in the other direction. They’re making cuts to things I doubt they fully understand.

That said, I agree it’s hilarious watching the chaos. I can’t do much about it anyway, so I guess I’ll get the popcorn out.

Hopefully we’ll collectively realize how dumb we are and elect someone competent next time.

I love what Trump’s doing. Do you think that people ONLY voted for him to get cheaper groceries and eggs? People who voted for him think he’s doing a fucking awesome job.

How’d the Harris thing work out for you guys? lolol

Face it, the majority of America got tired of Democrat’s bullshit and elitism. And you fucking lost.

You all lost to fucking Trump of all people. Let that simmer. YOU. FUCKING. LOST.

But hey, keep talking about eggs! See if that helps you in the next election. LMAO

          Thanks, Biden!

Cool, so be sure to tell that to all the people that keep trying to come here. We’re pretty full already. For some reason, most of the world thinks we are the greatest country. Maybe you could try to talk them out of it?

Trump sucks, but that doesn’t make Harris good. I haven’t seen a decent candidate from either side since… Romney vs Obama, and both were decent. 2008 was okay as well (McCain vs Obama), but then the previous two sucked as well.

Why do both major parties churn out BS? We need to stop that nonsense. End the two party system, and end FPTP.

I totally agree with every single point you made! Well said!

Funnily enough, I got banned from c/politics on .world (just before the election) when I said what you just said. Lemmy was so enamored with Harris and the Dem party, that anyone who criticized the two-party system was banned and labeled a nazi. LMAO

I said I was gonna vote 3rd party, and they were sooo pissed. I still have .world people chasing me down (hi @otto@sh.itjust.works and @pooperNickel@lemm.ee), trying to get me banned for “throwing the election.”

As if fucking Lemmy was powerful enough to do any of that. lololololol

And I did vote 3rd party. And I’ll do it again next election.

And what’s great now, is that after the shock of their echo-chamber being wrong, lost of people in c/poltics advocate getting rid of the two-party system. Funny how much the forget shunning everyone who said it before the election though. :)

I also voted third party, and my state went to Trump with like 60% of the vote, and all of the third party votes added up to <5% (many/most of which wouldn’t have gone to Harris).

I also was very vocal as well, saying that unless you live in a swing state, your vote doesn’t matter anyway for the national election so you might as well vote your conscience. I never got banned for that though, so I’m guessing that’s not the full story.

And did you say those things in c/politics on .world BEFORE the election? Because that’s what got me in trouble. In fact, just the day before yesterday the guy who finally got me banned was bragging to and laughing about it in another thread. Even tho I was banned before the election. That’s how long they hold their grudges. lol

So yeah, that’s the full story. The only thing to add to it is that I never backed down, not matter how much they tried to call me a russian spy. Modlogs are public. All my posts and comments are public. I had the same username there: UniversalMonk@Lemmy.world

I was banned before the election. Most in .world were saying I was a russian spy, that I didn’t live here in the US, and that I got paid to say I was voting for third party! LMAO

Like who the fuck would pay someone to say shit on Lemmy?! No one even knows what Lemmy is!

And you think that Harris would have fulfilled all of her promises? Did Biden fulfill his promises?

And do you think that the ONLY reason people voted for Trump was to get cheaper groceries?! His support is at an all time high. People who voted for him like what he is doing.

You lost. The majority of voters did not vote for Harris. Accept it. OR keep saying shit like, “are eggs cheaper yet?!”

People are fucking laughing at you. I didn’t even vote for Trump but I’m happy that Harris lost just so you all can fucking deal with shit and start bringing down your egotism.

          Thanks, Biden!

Fema was dead in the water anyways, no one trusts them after Katrina. It should be shut down, and responsibilities be moved elsewhere.

Why start with FEMA? The problem doesn’t seem to stem from them, but Bush. He didn’t sign a bill to send aid until 3 days after landfall, probably because of partisan politics (governor of Louisiana was Democrat).

That’s always going to be an issue with any federal program. What we should have IMO is a much smaller federal military, larger National Guard, and legal obligations for each state to aid the others with their national guard when one declares an emergency.

So yes, move it elsewhere, but not under the President’s purview.

Where? Is there already a plan for replacing fema or are we just killing it off with nothing to replace it at all and everyone is just out of luck during the next emergency? Is this what he meant by “we have concepts of a plan”?

The various National and state guard usually come in to help in natural disasters. They could take over femas role.
