Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).
With all the shit going on in the world lately, I thought I’d better get some physical, English-translated copies of my favourite manga while they are still affordable. (Yeah we can read them for free on MangaDex, but I want to support the creators.)
Anyway, I’m happy to announce that I am the proud owner of this collection:
- all volumes of Sheep Princess in Wolf’s Clothing
- most volumes of The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You - volumes 3, 6, 7 and newer volumes are unavailable; volume 4 is arriving soon
- the first two volumes of Killer Shark in Another World - the rest are unavailable
I was hoping to get the following too:
- Turns Out My Dick was a Cute Girl
- I Became the World’s Strongest Witch: I Will Live Freely in a World Where Only I can Access the “Guide Site”
- Misaki-kun is Unobtainable
- Speedrunner Cannot Return from the Game World
- IseGure: After Constantly Being Used as a Foil for OP Isekai Protagonists, The Elite Knight Has Finally Had It
But there aren’t any English publishers who’d release physical copies of these manga.
Anyway, it’s time for a reread of my favourite comedy manga; the dopamine is exactly what I need.
That’s awesome. The only physical manga I have are ones I inherited. So, it is mostly a lot of old stuff that my wife read back before the days of digital volumes and stuff that friends of mine have passed on to me as they have moved. Off the top of my head, I think some of the physical series we have are:
- Sailor Moon
- Cardcaptor Sakura
- Inuyasha
- Fruits Basket
- Rurouni Kenshin
- Lone Wolf and Cub
- Blade of the Immortal
The only physical series I have gone out of my way to buy is The Eminence in Shadow light novels.
So… what do you do when you see an out of context page and are interested in reading something but it turns out there’s only Japanese 😂. 辺境モブ貴族
Best bet would probably be to try a reverse image search with something like saucenao
I have just picked up You will be cursed for seven generations, so get married quickly!
Based on the 3 chapters released thus far, it is rather tropey. I will give it a few more chapters before deciding on whether to drop it or continue.
Some highlights from my reading this past week:
This series has impressed me. For a while I had just chalked this series up as a fun and ecchi romcom. However, there have been a couple chapters now that really carry some emotional heft that is impressive. It’s really impressive and I am really looking forward to more.
This is a series that jumped straight from webnovel to manga, skipping over the light novel step entirely. I have enjoyed my time so far with this series. Only three chapters in though, so there is still plenty of time for things to go completely off the rails. We’ll see!
I should really drop this series…I just caught up with the past couple chapters earlier today and it has been so, so long since anything has substantially advanced the plot. This is a weekly series that is absolutely stuck in place and I am so deep in at this point and unable to get out. In any case, now that I am caught up, see you all next week!
This is a relatively recent addition to Shonen Jump that I have enjoyed a lot. It’s a great mix of elements that has resulted in something that just works. I feel like we have just scratched the surface of this world. I am hoping that we get some deeper storylines going forward that explore the character a bit more in depth.
